What is a Coronavirus?

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause illnesses in animals and humans. In the past, various coronaviruses have caused ranges of diseases from Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered SARS-CoV-2 causes the disease COVID-19.
